چکیده

Graph-based matching methods have been widely used in the areas of object recognition and stereo correspondence. In this paper, an algorithm to deal with segmentation errors in region-based matching is proposed, which consists of a preprocessing stage to the classical graph-based matching algorithm. Some regions are merged and included in the matching process in order to avoid the di!erences in segmentation. The selection of an appropriate similarity criterion to create the initial nodes in the graph and the use of approximative algorithms to "nd maximal cliques are important issues in order to reduce the computational burden. The experimental results show that the method is robust enough in the presence of noise. ( 2000 Pattern Recognition Society. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Hierarchical region based stereo matching

Often, stereo matching is treated as two quite independent subprocesses: segmentation, followed by matching. In this paper, we treat these processes as naturally related, with partial matching results feeding back into the segmentation and both proceeding simultaneously in a cooperative fashion. We consider regions as the primitives to be matched, and our implementation is based upon maintainin...

Fast Segmentation-based Dense Stereo from Quasi-dense Matching

We propose a segmentation-based dense stereo algorithm within an energy minimization framework. The cost function includes a new consistency term to take into account an initial quasi-dense disparity map and handles occlusions explicitly. Based on quasi-dense matching and color segmentation, optimization is performed efficiently by assuming a constant disparity for each region. The assumption i...

Robust Region-Based Stereo Vision to Build Environment Maps for Robotics Applications

Stereoscopic vision is an appropiate tool for building maps of the environment of a robot. When matching regions of the images, segmentation errors should be avoided. In this paper an algorithm to deal with errors in region matching is proposed, and the results in the presence of noise are analyzed. The selection of an appropiate similarity criterion to create the initial nodes in the graph-bas...

Analysis of Grey-Level Features for Line Segment Stereo Matching

In order to recover 3D-information from stereo image pairs, a number of stereo matching methods are available. These methods mainly differ in various tokens which are applied to solve the correspondence problem between left and right image. In most of the line segment based stereo matching algorithms, geometrical and structural information is used to estimate the correspondence. Unfortunately t...

A Method for Learning Matching Errors in Stereo Computation

This paper describes a novel learning-based approach for improving the performance of stereo computation. It is based on the observation that whether the image matching scores lead to true or erroneous depth values is dependent on the original stereo images and the underlying scene structure. This function is learned from training data and is integrated into a depth estimation algorithm using t...
